Kids at the Scout House

The German Kindergarten London, also called KISH (Kids in the Scout House) was established in 1995.  Our Kindergarten is situated in a beautiful and quiet location in the Sea-Scout-House of the Ham & Petersham Sea Scouts. Here, in the Sea Scout House,  four nursery teachers are looking after ca. 24 children aged 3 to 5.

The large ground is directly adjacent to the German School in London. Our ground and our building are far removed from any traffic and we have direct access to forest and farmland as well as footpaths along the river Thames. Every day, we are spending a minimum of 1 to 3 hours outside playing and exploring.

Although German is the main language in our nursery, passing on the English language is also very important to us. The children are learning English in a playful way through our English nursery teacher. Thus the children are learning to communicate with their friends in the respective language and to get rid of their anxieties regarding foreign cultures and languages.

Most of our children do have a link with Germany, either because they are German and are living in London with their parents for a couple of years or because one of their parents is German and therefore they should cultivate this language already in nursery school. Others are simply coming to learn another language.
