Kids in the Scout House

The German Kindergarten London, also called KISH (Kids in the Scout House) was established in 1995. Our Kindergarten is situated in a beautiful and quiet location in the Sea-Scout-House of the Ham & Petersham Sea Scouts.

The large ground is next to the German School London. Our ground and our building are far removed from traffic with direct access to forest and farmland as well as footpaths along the river Thames. Therefore the outdoors and the natural environment play a vital part in our daily routine.

Although German is the main language in our nursery, the English language is also present through one early years practitioner. Through the presence of both languages in play situations and the daily routine, the children learn to communicate with their friends in both English and German and lose anxieties regarding foreign cultures and languages.

Most of our children do have a link with German speaking countries, either because they are German and live in London with their parents or because German is one of different languages spoken in the family home.
